Apprenticeship at KOHLHAGE
From Taiwan back to the Sauerland
Anton Howorka learns at KOHLHAGE
“Until 1.5 years ago, I lived first in China, then in Taiwan. My father went there from Sauerland years ago for work – and we as a family went with him, of course. After I finished school in Taiwan, the question arose for me: And now?
I wanted to do an apprenticeship in industry. There is nothing like that in Taiwan, so I came back to Sauerland. Now I am learning at KOHLHAGE and am being trained as an industrial mechanic. I am now in my second year of training.
What’s exciting about my training is the versatility. If a machine doesn’t run, industrial mechanics have to find out why. This error analysis can be quite tricky. Then we have to repair the machine. Maintenance is also important, because that’s how we ensure that machines remain fault-free. But I already knew that beforehand. That here at KOHLHAGE we also build selected production facilities from scratch is something I first learned. And I think that’s good.
Living abroad for a while was a great experience. Coming back to Germany for qualified training was just as good. I would do it that way again and again.”
